"There is an anguished being, disturbed and distressed somewhere deep inside me, a human being who yearns for a meaningful existence. It is the human presence that arouses my attention and steers my creative inner space. I have been committed through my work seeking a definition of my works".
Yusuf Arakkal is a significant figurative painter. He focuses on the human predicament in our society and empathizes with his characters. As an artist, he's a man of constant transformation and self discovery. He is a multi-faceted artist and has used recurrent themes of solitude and suffering which he himself had endured. The use of earthy colours symbolizes reality with a glint of optimism.
The above, heavily textured canvas depicts weather beaten images. Arakkal uses his perspective to compose multiple planes in the foreground and background. The canvas is a collage of fragments and a small child is seen in the foreground entering the picture plane.
