SIGNED BY RABINDRANATH TAGORE ON FREE FRONT END PAPER, dated March 8, 1932, Calcutta.
Published by the Golden Book Committee, 1931Lacks Frontispiece [Photographic portrait of Tagore] which has been provided in a fine Xerox copy. Of the remaining 29 plates, many are tipped-in colour plates [with tissue guards carrying title and artist’s name] by Abanindranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Asit Kumar Haldar, A. D. Thomas, Gaganendranath Tagore, Samarendra Nath Gupta, Abdur Rahman Chughtai and Ramendra Nath Chakravarti. Others are reproductions of works by a Chinese and a Japanese artist, portraits of Tagore done by eminent Indian and Western artists and early photographs of Tagore.
Each copy of this book had a facsimile reproduction of a handwritten and signed letter by Tagore on Santiniketan letterhead relating to the publication loosely inserted. This has been pasted on front pastedown. This facsimile letter also proves the signatures of Tagore are genuine.

Provenance Provenance
The last page states that the blocks for the illustrations in the book were engraved and printed at U. Ray & Sons. The firm was owned by the family of Satyajit Ray.

Condition Notes
Fair. The front hinge has virtually detached, spine has a 1.5 inch split on front top, and the cover is generally somewhat worn and grubby. Original binding in silk with a colourful device pasted on cover.
