A VERY RARE AND FINE TEAKWOOD DOOR PANEL DEPICTING GAJALAKSHMI, ANDHRA-PRADESH,SOUTH-INDIA, probably from a zamindar’s (landlord) house, Gajalakshmi is flanked by two elephants, each with one leg raised and holding lotus flowers in their trunks. Seated on a lotus throne with large scrolling leaves the lower base is formed by row of pineapples with either side having two large pineapples acting as a tassel to the whole frame with flowing foliage and flower patterns to form a ‘Mandapam’ for Gajalakshmi.
