Containing a description of the religion, manners, customs, trades, arts, sciences, literature, diversions, & c. of the Hindoos, illustrated with upwards of 100 coloured engravings, in 6 volumes.
London: Printed for R. Ackermann, Repository of Arts, Strand No date, but some engravings dated 1822. Paper-covered boards with leather spines, with titles uniformly gilt-embossed.

Condition Notes
Lacks vol. 1 and engravings from other volumes (listed below), which have all been supplied in fine colour facsimiles. Vol. 2: 17 plates only out of 19 [the 2 missing plates supplied in colour photocopy]. Also, folding plate ‘Sujah Dowlah, Vizir of the Mogul Empire, Nabob of Oude and his Ten Sons’ has a clean tear into the image and lacking a third of the engraving, which has been completed by joining a colour photocopy portion. As for the folding plate ‘Hindoo Ladies Paying a Visit to a Persee Lady’- the tear has been neatly joined with tape. Vol. 3: 17 plates only out of 22 [the 5 missing plates supplied in colour photocopy]. Also lacks the title page, pp. 1-2 and pp. 73-74, which have all been supplied in photocopy. Vol. 4: 22 plates only out of 23 [the 1 missing plate supplied in colour photocopy] Vol. 5: [16 plates] and Vol 6: [15 plates] are complete.
