Rajeshwar Rao was born in Vizainagaram, Andhra Pradesh and obtained his Masters in Fine Art from the Central University, Hyderabad.

Rao's figurations are a social commentary on the popular and border on the satirical. The portraits of filmstars and politicians are constructed as caricatures. Rao's works on acrylic sheets focus on the lives of innocent rural folk.
