PAHARI SCHOOL MINIATURE PAINTING, EARLY 18TH CENTURY
A very fine quality miniature painting of Mahaveera, the 24th and last Jain Tirthankara, seated on the throne flanked by two attendants holding whiskers with a tiger seated below. The bottom portion of the painting, from left to right, depicts Sri Gautam Swamiji along with the Paduka of Shri Dadaji under a canopy, a circular tantric Navpadji with a Tirthankra in the centre, followed by a painting of Sri Chakkeshwari Devi seated on a lotus. This is a very rare combination of saints and deities profusely embellished with fine gold and real Basara pearls.
