The same sentiment is echoed by his son Padmanabh Bendre. "The subject may have been inspired from Mumbai's Versova beach in the 1940s."

This oil work is a lovely depiction of two traditional fishing boats. It offers a sense of peace and a glimpse at the freedom the fisher folk enjoy. While there are no subjects, the twin boats are painted with care, where their simplicity is depicted in a loving application of colour in an impressionistic technique. The play of light and shadow is masterful, with the insides of the boats glowing luminously.
