An Indian Mughal fan, scimitar shaped with 'ari' or 'zardosi' work, the silver shaft and handle with scrolled engraving and the gold thread design incorporating a central crescent and rose motif surrounded by foliate inner borders and an outer border of repeating floral design, with an edging of gold tussles, all embroidered on to velvet.
