This painting is from the early 1960s. Here, Husain has delineated the muscular structures of the horses with thick impasto brush strokes of oil colours. It is interesting to note the seemingly flat planes of colours that conjoin to give shape to the final forms. The structuring reminds one of the stained glass arrangements of churches and cathedrals.
