An official portrait of the Maharaja of Bikaner. He is posing for the portrait dressed in complete State regalia. The pale yellow 'Bundgala' with a red brocade collar is replete with the medals and crosses awarded as an affiliation to the British Empire. The 'Sarpech' jewel studded in diamonds with a pearl drop is encasing an enameled portrait of an ancestor. The portrait gives a good understanding of the character of its protagonist whose slightly upturned head and moustache are indicative of the pride in his Kshatriya, Rathore lineage. The turban is tied in the typical style of Bikaner. The golden 'Turra' at the back of the 'Pagri' is proof of the formal occasion.
