G.R. Iranna as an artist begins his journey from within the profound complexities of humanity and its obscure quest as represented through his abstract forms. The visual language on his canvases is a symbolic representation of the era and space within which humankind is struggling to endure. He creates a sense of vigour on his canvases by challenging the forms within.
He graduated from the Fine Arts College in Gulbarga, Karnataka and completed his Masters from the Delhi College of Art. A versatile artist, he also paints on tarpaulin besides doing sculpture and was a recipient of the Charles Wallace Scholarship in 1997.
