AN ATTRACTIVE RUBY, EMERALD AND SAPPHIRE OPEN WORK MEDALLION PENDANT SET IN GOLD, tamil nadu, c. 1860, set in a floral pattern, with Burmese cabochon rubies, 5 oval emeralds and 8 flat diamonds within the pendant, with hanging drops of pearls, suspended by a garland-shaped pendant with a broad devil’s face in the centre to ward off evil-eye, a practice prevalent in those days. The emeralds weigh 2 carats approximately, the Burmese rubies weigh 26 carats approximately and the diamonds weigh 1.95 carats approximately, set in 22 carat gold, weighing 112.30 grams.
