A TRADITIONAL BURMESE RUBY BATTU MALA (NECKLACE), tamil nadu, c. 1880, comprising of thirty circular pendants with a star motif inset with white sapphires and emeralds, with the circular ring around the star studded with Burmese cabochon rubies and each circular locket inserted in a woven link gold chain with screw locking. The rubies weigh 225 carats approximately, the emeralds weigh 15 carats approximately and the white sapphires weigh 50 carats approximately, set in 22 carat gold, weighing 364.44 grams.
