A Shikak Rug, Kurdish (Northwest Persia), late 19th C. A rare Persian Shikak Kurdish rug with the mysterious pond turtle icons associated with Kurdish mythology. An unusual border system, including both the reciprocal main border and the very abstract and naive latched minor border. The colours are characteristic of the Sauj Bulagh area.
