A Shahsavan Runner, Northwest Persia, late 19th C. A naive and tribal Shahsavan long rug, the field includeds three central diamonds in varying sizes, each filled with an assortment of endearing tribal iconography. The negative space in the field is dotted with numerous plants and geometric objects. The three border frame shows variants of the bar and flower arrangement sometimes seen in Caucasian weavings.
