A Luri Rug, Southwest Persia, late 19th C. A stunning fragmentary Southwest Persian rug, most likely woven by the Luri tribe, though it contains abundant imagery used by the Qashqai Shekarlu weavers. A blue field completely filled with numerous icons including human figures, blossoms, plants, birds and animals. A striking and rare white ground main border filled with stacked fan tailed birds, most likely representing peacocks. A good piece that may be mounted and displayed as tribal art for the wall.
