A Kurdish Yuruk Long Rug, Central or East Anatolian, late 19th C. An octagon quad, containing four big colourful octagons, has been designed on the field of this very good Kurdish Yuruk long rug. See Bruggemann & Bohmer, Teppiche der Bauern und Nomaden in Anatolian, no.99 (field) and no.101 (border). Rich dyes and lustrous wool. The central row of four medallions are somewhat reminiscent of the butterfly medallions found in Caucasian Karabagh weavings.
