A Kurdish Rug, Karabagh or Moghan, South Caucasus, late 19th C. A beautiful rug, the field is lined with diagonal rows of lozenges, or what are sometimes referred to as bottlebrush diamonds. Two equal width borders frame the field, one filled with with the classic leaf-and-calyx icons, and the other with eight-pointed stars. The weaver has added a special dose of charm by putting in an extra random border containing quartered diamonds along the top end of the rug.
