Details Details
A Kurdish Rug, probably Northwest Persia, late 19th C. An abrashed red ground Kurdish rug, the field is covered with vertical sprigs of flowers in alternating rows of left and right. An unusual and rare composition that may also be attributed to the Genje region of the Southern Caucasus. A beautiful mixed light and dark blue border filled with bars and eight pointed stars forms the outer guard. The inner main white ground border has an unusual barber-pole variant design including flattened lozenges flanked with running dog stripes on either end.
