A Kurdish Rug, Northeastern Persia, late 19th C to early 20th C. At first sight, this example may appear to be a classic east Anatolian Yuruk rug, but on closer examination of the quality of the weave and borders, this is more likely a Quchan region rug from Northeastern Persia. Beautiful mountain wool, mellow dyes and a truly naive composition of belled lozenges. Double borders, somewhat unusual, comprising double headed birds, or a juxtaposed running dog border system going in both directions.
