A Kordi Pile Rug, Quchan district of Northeastern Persia, late 19th C to early 20th C. A brilliantly colourful rug, multicoloured icons typically found in kilims have been woven over a beautiful blue field. An unusual border system, including a half-complete tuning fork minor border that goes along only on parts of two or three sides (but not all four sides) of the rug -- a truly tribal touch, possibly implying the recalculation and adjustment of space needed by the weaver to complete her evolving composition.
