A Khamseh Rug, Southwest Persia, late 19th C. A rare red ground Persian Khamseh rug filled with the chickens and birds iconography so characteristic of rugs woven by this Zagros mountains tribe. Two central medallions in a beautiful light blue colour. Three equal width borders with barber-pole and diamond fillers in undyed brownish-black and white, as well as a range of bright colours.
