A Kazak Rug, Southwest Caucasus, late 19th C to early 20th C. A bold triple medallion Kazak with unusually large scale Memling guls (named after the famous Flemish painter Hans Memling) laid on a deep red field, complete with its original edges and selvedge. Full pile throughout. Wool warp, and red dyed wool weft. Geometric version of the scrolling vine and flower border, framed with a reciprocal trefoil border.
