A Karapinar Konya Rug, Anatolia, mid 19th C to late 19th C. A classic small rug from the region, the bold hexagonal central medallion is conjoined at the top and bottom tips with smaller medallions. Four corner spandrels flank the central drawing, with the top two icons woven naively smaller than the bottom two, and each of the four including a single jutting birdhead reaching out to the central medallion. A simple H border frames the field, with the bottom end including an extra skirt typical of Konya weavings.
