Details Details

A Gabbeh Qashqai Rug, Southwest Persia, early 20th C. A classic old Southwest Persian gabbeh (signifying “unclipped” in Farsi) rug, most likely woven by the Qashqai tribe. A very simple and bold composition of three diamond medallions filled with minimal geometric flower and square icons. The simplicity of the field is further enhanced by a set of two minimal borders in the mountainpeak design.

The rug has probably been painted in a few places over the years to cover wear that may be otherwise distracting to the eye.
