A Beni Yacub Lozenges Rug, Central Anti-Atlas, Morocco, early to mid 20th C. This rug was probably made for a specific home place, without pre-set drawing, and meant to provide comfort and a little “luxury” in dwellings otherwise short on furniture. The composition of this rug is similar to that found in South Persian Gabbehs.
